Second day of the IFATCA ERM Skopje 2024 conference

The second day was marked by closed sessions and analysis of the annual reports from each member country. Deep discussions developed around the various problems faced by each region such as: lack of staff, recruitment of young controllers, scheduling problems, increasing traffic complexity GPS spoofing/jamming, etc.

This was followed by a presentation by Sverre Ivar Elsbak (NATCA Norway), Chair of the EDITF, on the progress IFATCA is making on the topic of “Equity, diversity and inclusivity”. Our President Natasha Mijat Krstevska has been a member and contributor to this Task Force for the second year in a row.

After Sverre, Marc Baumgartner (Helvetica, Switzerland) spoke for the first time on a rather delicate topic in our profession “Decline due to age – the influence of meno/andropause and the impact on operations”. Marc Baumgartner is also a member of the IFATCA Mental Wellbeing Task Force, where our member Marija Savikj is also active.

This was followed by a presentation by IFATCA EVPT Benjamin van der Sanden on the activities of the TOC, Technical Operational Committee, and the technical Task Forces. From our association, our colleague Goran Bosheski is a member of the TOC and we hope that through him we will be able to provide greater technical input into the work of IFATCA.

Presentations were given by Philippe Domogala, Treasurer of the European Support Fund, Mark Jarc (EVPEUR team) on the Information Handbook and the new platform for the exchange of ideas. Our member Nikola Sotirovski was recruited to the European Support Team of EVP EUROPE, to whom we wish much success in the future.

The second day of the conference ended with the Speak English Programme (SEP) of IFATCA and the award, or plaque, which we prepared and IFATCA awarded to David Johnson (GATCO UK), as the most active member in the SEP programme with the highest number of classes held.
