Macedonian Air Traffic Controllers Association - MATCA

The goals and objectives of the association are as follows:

Unity

Uniting the ATCOs and ATCAs in advancing their professional interests, in accordance with the Constitution and Laws

Quality service

Promoting safety, efficiency and regularity in the air navigation within our area of responsibility.

Competence

Promote and uphold a high standard of knowledge and professional efficiency among ATCOs and ATCAs

Development

Taking part in international activities for the development of aeronautics.

Protection

Protect and safeguard the interests of the Air Traffic Control profession

Independence

Operating as a independent, non-­profit, non-­political and non-government organization.

The Macedonian Air Traffic Controllers Association – MATCA is a voluntary professional association of highly trained air traffic controllers and air traffic control assistants, which are responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of the air traffic.

The association is registered in the Central Registry of the Republic of Macedonia on 23 May 2007 and it’s a member of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations – IFATCA. MATCA members regularly participate in the European regional meetings, as well as global annual conferences. IFATCA is an international collective of air traffic controller associations. It represents over 50.000 air traffic controllers from 130 countries, which makes it the largest and most comprehensive representative body for air traffic control in the world.

MATCA’s objectives are as follows:

  • Creating more favorable conditions for the successful execution of ATCOs’ tasks and their constant improvement and advancement;
  • Creating and maintaining a high standard, knowledge, and professionalism in the work;
  • Protection of the interests of the Air Traffic Control profession;
  • Improvement of the safety, efficiency and regularity of the air navigation;
  • Advancing the development of a safe and well-organized air traffic control system;
  • Participating in the work of IFATCA;
  • Cooperation with other related professional organizations and authorities in the air navigation system.

In implementing its goals, MATCA acts through the following bodies:

  • Assembly
  • Committees (A, B and C)
  • Council
  • Supervisory Board
  • President

Membership in MATCA is voluntary and it can be regular or honorary. Currently there are 87 members, from the departments of ACC/FMP Skopje, TMA Skopje and ATC Ohrid, all of whom are active or former air traffic controllers and air traffic control assistants.
